ThePokerDonk.com: Finally a poker site with information and personality

If you're like me you are probably tired of hearing poker websites tauting their bonuses, strategy section, and information area. Only to visit the site and find an affiliate bonus code, a starting hand chart, and an "under construction" sign where their articles are supposed to be.

Fortunately, thepokerdonk.com does not fall into the above category. When you first visit the site you'll find yourself on the Donk's homepage, which has a nice drop don menu with helpful tips, and some much needed humor for us poker players! From the homepage you can quickly navigate to any area of the site:

  • Poker news
  • The Donk's poker forum
  • Poker sites and bonuses
  • Events
  • Strategic advice
  • Donk quotes and isms

The site is full of sound advice and poker content: But I must admit my favorite part of the site is the alter ego the owner created "The Poker Donk", who fills your head with all manner of ideas, such as this gem:

The Donks Bankroll Management

Posted by The Poker Donk on Saturday, March 28, 2009

Hi Donks

I thought I would give you some advice about Bankroll Management.
If you check what the so called experts say about Bankroll management is that when playing a tournament you should have about 40 - 50 buyins. Well, this is rubbish, and thats why these so called experts write about bankroll management instead of actually making money playing poker. You will never find me writing about bankroll management I'm to busy playing poker.

So back to Bankroll management. I as was saying these "experts" tell you you should have about 40 -50 buyins to play that tournament so if you deposit $10 and your a new player you have to spend the next 5 -6 years playing 20c buyins. Good luck with that. I'm telling you to put all your money in the next tournament. So instead of you playing a tournament for 20c, winning and getting a $1 for your trouble. Im telling you to put the $10 in a tournament, preferable a big one, then you have more chance of making big money and move up the ranks instead of playing 20c tournaments for the next 5 years.

The latest addition to the site is the forum, which will be hosting exclusive freeroll tournaments for forum members, so join today and introduce yourself to the Poker Donk!

I have to say, for a new site there is a lot of content, and as I said, a whole lot of personality: Which really sets the site apart from competitors. So, if you are looking for a new poker site to peruse, or need to be cheered up after a particularly bad session, I highly recommend you check out thepokerdonk.com.

I enjoyed the part about bankroll requirements. What he says there has some merit! I'm not sure I would have much patience for those 20c tournaments.
