Who is your dream mate?
You've read the first two parts of this series, in which you identified your strengths and followed my easy method of writing the "about me" section of your online dating profile. Totally easy, right?
The second half of your dating profile is describing the kind of person you want. This is a tricky section - and some people eliminate it all together! That's probably the biggest mistake you can make. Someone will be reading your profile thinking, "Wow, this person seems great, I wonder if they'd like someone like me!" When they get NO feedback about the type of person you like, they'll make up their own story about what you want, which usually eliminates them as a possibility.
Avoid describing people's physical appearance. Instead, describe the kind of activities that the person might engage in. For example, instead of saying "No fatties!!", it would be better to say, "My match is the kind of girl who loves to move, whether it's walking her dog or running marathons." If you want someone with a big heart, you might say that the guy for you is the one who always buys Girl Scout cookies, even though he doesn't even like to eat them.
Remember, your online dating profile is a story. You want people to see themselves as being a part of your story. Give them as many places as possible to see themselves, and you'll find yourself getting more winks, emails, and dates!
