Blake Griffin used to try to woo LeBron James to Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Clippers made a trip to Cleveland on Friday afternoon to try to sway LeBron James into signing with their team. What could the woeful Clippers possibly have to offer LeBron to make him even consider playing for them? They pitched the possibility of playing side-by-side with former Oklahoma Sooners great Blake Griffin.

"That's what I told Bron in the meeting," Clippers general manager Neil Olshey told the Los Angeles Times. "I don't have to sit here and tell you that you need to bring someone with you. Or that we need to go out and get someone else.

"I have the guy."

Memories might remain of the game where James gave the injured Griffin a hug in the Staples Center back in January. While Griffin has not played a regular NBA game yet, he remains one of the most intriguing players on the Clippers team.

Los Angeles drafted former Sooners point guard Willie Warren in the 2010 NBA draft. Warren and Wake Forest small forward Al-Farouq Aminu both received grades of “A” from CBSSports.com in the draft and the Clippers appear on the cusp of stepping to the next level.

Imagine what signing a superstar like LeBron James could mean to the team’s improvement. The Clippers brought a DVD package to try to woo the All-Star and included footage of both Blake Griffin and Baron Davis as a selling point.

"We felt if we couldn't bring LeBron to L.A., we'd bring L.A. to LeBron," Olshey said.

What kind of stupid pitch is that. Lebron can play with Blake Griffin? Blake Griffin hasn't even played a game in the NBA and is a raw product. Lebron wants to win now, not be a babysitter to a cursed franchise. Blake Griffin offers nothing to Lebron's game, what is he going to do, help him rebound? Blake Griffin can't shoot, can't help space the floor...Clipper GM should be fired.

that's so funny you said that, I think LeBron is going to be at a place that best suits him to win a championship. He knows what's going around the league. He knows that Cleveland will not win, He knows the clippers won't win. So it's really just down to the Heat, the Nets, Knicks, or Lakers. And the best possibility is the Heat with Wade.

blake griffin was the unanimous best player in the 09 draft, the clippers would've been stupid to pass up on him. before you talk about what griffin can't do, watch him play basketball. then maybe you'll have substance behind you.

Who cares if he was unanimous, doesn't mean he won't be a bust. At least Blake has his subway commercials, like mr. nba said, there is no way in hell Lebron would play with the Lakers. Blake Griffin is not going to score 20 points and grab 10 rebounds, he will probably get 10 points and 5-6 rebounds and shoot like high 60's ft%. This hardly qualifies as "the guy." It's good to be hopeful, but let's face the facts, Clippers are going nowhere fast.

Typo error, no way in hell Lebron would play for the Clips, but no way he would play with Lakers either...Lebron wants to be his own man, too big of a personality.
