The Truth About Belly Fat

Body Fat Percentage
For years, many of Americans, especially women, have sought a trimmer waist, and flatter stomach. Even with diet and exercise, some felt that there was no real cure to reduce their stomachs and flatten their bellies.
Many of different talk shows have discussed "trigger" foods, that reduces body fat and can lead to a person, "never" having to do a single crunch or sit up for the rest of their lives.
Truth of the matter is, there is no one true cure for losing belly fat other than a balanced diet and an exercise plan that targets the core muscles in a person's body.
According to WebMD, a recent study done by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, of [plus size] subjects who ate a calorie controlled diet enriched in whole grains, trimmed their waistlines faster than test subjects with the same diet, except for eating refined grains.
The report further goes on to state: "Study participants who ate all whole grains (in addition to five servings of fruits and vegetables, three servings of low-fat dairy, and two servings of lean meat, fish, or poultry) lost more weight from the abdominal area than another group that ate the same diet, but with all refined grains."
With that being said, Good Morning America and The 700 Club have both broadcast the MUFA diet. The MUFA diet,(or Mono-unsaturated fats diet), is based upon five components; Oils, nuts & seeds, Avocados, chocolate (dark), and olives.
These five groups are more detailed in the bestseller, "Prevention's Flat Belly Diet." Within this book, Liz Vaccariello and Cynthia Sass, list the foods and oils categorized and different ways to cook foods using these "MUFAs." However, it has one major flaw, and it's the lack of encouragement to be active.
Let's face facts, if the body is not in motion and is in a constant rest position, (a-k-a, couch potato), there cannot be a positive outcome for those who truly are wishing to lose weight for good and who genuinely want to banish their bellies. However, this does not mean that the diet cannot help aide in weight loss, especially around the midsection.
So what is the truth? Which exercise and diet combinations work and which don't? When Tony Majestic was asked his opinion, his response was, "...you might not like it, but you can't eat garbage five times a day and expect to lose weight. Not unless you're planning for liposuction."
Whether a person agrees or disagrees with the above statement, there is one simple truth. A person has to have a balanced diet in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to become healthy if that person is overweight or obese. Everything has to be in moderation, and if a person expects to loose their "belly fat" or slim their inner and outer thighs they do have to put in the work.
