Portuguese Water dog similar to the Obama's new pet
The Washington Post is reporting that the Obama's new Portuguese Water dog has been identified and is making appearances all over the internet.
A website called "First Dog Charlie" has published a picture of the new Obama dog. He is a 6 month old Portuguese water dog given to the family by Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts.
TMZ, the celebrity gossip site has published an article that claims they have "lots of exclusive details" on the dog. The First Dog will make his official public debut on Tuesday but it's apparent that the news has been leaked.
The dog has been named Bo. The Washington Post reports that the Obama girls, Malia and Sasha chose the name in honor of their cousins cat and their maternal grandfather whose nickname is Diddley.
The Associated Press is reporting that first lady Michelle Obama arranged an exclusive deal with the Washington Post for exclusive details according to anonymous White House sources.
The First Dog Charlie website has posted photographs of the Portuguese water dog they claim is the Obama's dog and he is adorable, a tuxedo dog. The Washington Post has a picture of what appears to be the same dog.

It seems that the 11 Portuguese Water dogs on petfinder who need homes weren't good enough for Kennedy and Obama. Same for the countless dogs in the shelters in the DC-metro area. Buy/get a dog from a breeder or pet store and get one killed at a shelter. Shame on Kennedy and Obama.
I'm horrified. There's no HOPE now for the shelter dogs now. I feel betrayed by Barack and Michelle...many people would have adopted from shelters if the Obama's would have. Maybe the Republicans were right after all: He is ellitist!! We need another democrat for 2012. Obama doesn't care about animals.

This dog will take to digging holes in the White House grounds, will chase off squirrels, birds, cats and other wildlife, will chew off sprinkler heads and urinate all over everything, not to mention give fleas to the Obama family.
Inside, this dog will tear up the carpet, will pull down curtains, will gnaw on legs of priceless antique and historical furniture, will leave dirt and filthy dog hair everywhere, and will give the Obama family fleas.
Oh yeah, this dog will urinate on walls, doors, the Oval Office desk and legs of secret service agents, which reminds me, we taxpayers will pay a lot of money providing secret service protection for this worthless dog.
The Obama family should have taken in a stray female cat, a clearly superior animal, a clearly clean animal. Fixed and vaccinated, a female cat is the best pet possible and no problems with fleas from mice and rats, thanks to a cat.
Oh yeah, cats do not need secret service protection; cats are their own best protection.
Cats are smarter than dogs, cats bury what dogs love to eat.
I do hope Michelle and Barack buy flea collars for their girls; those girls will need flea collars.

Yesterday, while working outside, I listened to a radio talk show out of Los Angeles. This is the John and Ken show on KFI AM radio. A gal is interviewed. She discusses puppy mills over in Texas. She is documenting horrific conditions at puppy mills, especially in Texas.
Carolyn, you write you are horrified. Run a Google search using "texas puppy mills" as a search expression. You will be more than horrified by returned articles.
Puppy mill conditions in Texas are so bad a number of pending legislative bills are being considered to protect animals at puppy mills, by the Texas state government.
Kennedy and Obama have only served to contribute to this abhorrent treatment of dogs at puppy mills, regardless of state of origin.
Rather clear the Obama family is completely out of touch with reality.

Sorry, forgot to mention the Obama dog is from a Texas puppy mill.
I will bet my bottom dollar, and my bottom is big, I will bet a buck this Obama dog will display inbred mental retardation and will most certainly display ongoing health issues because of inbred genetic defects.
Mental retardation and health issues are a given with pure pedigree dogs and other animals.
For trivia, legs of race horses are as fragile as toothpicks. This is a result of inbreeding and this is why so many race horses break a leg and then are put to death.
Seems we love animals, love animals to death, quite literally.
However, we humans love this egotistical status symbol of a purebred animal, much more.
I will take a back alley stray cat anytime; I know humility and I genuinely love animals.

I just heard on the news that this dog (Bo) is a "second chance dog...given up by a previous owner".
