On Sunday the Raiders travel down to San Diego to face the division rival Chargers. The Raiders have lost twelve straight games to the Bolts. This streak has spanned this entire span of Raiders failure. Thus defeating the Chargers would have a strong symbolic effect on this flailing franchise.

The last time the Raiders beat the Chargers Bill Callahan was the head coach and the Raiders were defending AFC Champions. Quarterback Rich Gannon led the Raiders to a 34-31 victory in overtime.
Since that victory Norv Tuner (4), Art Shell (2), Lane Kiffin (3), and Tom Cable(4) have all had their chances to end the misery against the Chargers, but not one of them could get a single victory. JaMarcus Russell is the eighth quarterback to have started for the Raiders during that same period. Marques Tuiasosopo, Rick Mirer, Kerry Collins, Aaron Brooks, Andrew Walter, Josh McCown, and Daunte Culpepper have all been under center, as the losses to the Bolts continued to climb.
There are only six Raiders currently on the Raiders roster who were on the team the last time the Raiders were victorious over the Bolts. Shane Lechler, Sebastian Janikowski, Langston Walker, and rookies Nnamdi Asomugha, Justin Fargas, and Sam Williams.
During the streak the Raiders have been outscored to the tune of 339-150 during the streak.
This is not the longest one-sided streak in the history of these two teams. From 12/15/1968 through 9/18-1978 the Raiders did not lose to the Chargers. There were two ties during that series, but an 18-0-2 run is impressive.
Zach Miller said, "I know we let one slip away week one. We won't let that happen again."

Talk is cheap. Does anyone care anymore?
Wishful thinking that we can beat the Chargers in their own crib with Jawmarshmallow as our starter. We have to play a better team with a much better Qb, deal with a hostile home crowd, bad calls against us by the officials, and our own inept play and bad play calling. We win guaranteed! Now we can look forward to seeing Gradkowski come into the game down 21 pts. or more just to be pressured every down because he has to pass, if they give him a chance at all. Will the Defense that played game one show up this weekend? Well they showed up 2 out of 7 games so probably not. Cable should have Russell throw deep every play then change up with fast balls in the dirt on swing passes. Let's see if we can break the all time interception record and fumble record for the franchise. Throw the ball to Bey every other throw and make sure you look at him all the way. Don't play Schilens or Higgins because they had success last year and we just want to develop the rookies. Raider football! Sick!
Well it's 1,2,3, what are we playing 4,
Al Davis just don't give a damn,
"Jamarcus is our man."
And it 5,6,7, turnovers we can't negate,
Why Russell starts, we wonder why,
Whoopee let's watch the franchise die.
(Sing to Country Joe Mcdonald Vietnam tune).
haha!! Good one rfan. Well we will either lose by 30 or win by 4. You're right Bob, talk is cheap. How about playing with heart and passion. I know Russell puts us behind the 8 ball and gives us very little chance to win, but everyone needs to play hard and not quit. They are all millionaires after all.
Please, when Russell sucks it up, use the bye week to get someone else ready so we can come out and beat KC and start the 2nd half right.
