David White of the San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that two defensive tackles are among the Raiders who were released today.

Terdell Sands never lived up to the potential that the Raiders saw in him when they gave him a four year deal after the 2006 season. His departure is something that the Raider Nation has been wanting for the last couple of seasons. Sands did not see the field at all during the second or third preseason game portending his imminent release.

Ryan Boschetti was signed as a free agent over this past offseason. He had some strong moments during the preseason games, but could not crack the final roster.

These two cuts all but ensure that undrafted free agent defensive tackle Desmond Bryant out of Harvard will make the team. Bryant had an outstanding camp and preseason, where he was the only defensive lineman to record a sack, and led the team with two in the four preseason games. He saw his first significant playing time against the San Francisco 49ers.

More to come as it becomes available, and will report after the conference call with Tom Cable at 4 pm.

To be honest, I was a little pumped up when I heard Sands lost weight and looked better in practice...but after seeing the preseason defense....we need to make some changes.

The Raiders couldn't get Sands outta Oakland fast enough for me... Cornell green needs to find another place to play too... Just gives up way to many sacks and is always out of position and being pushed back....

You Raider fans will be pleasantly surprised by Bryant.I followed him in college. He is the real deal and there still is upside potential for weight and strength gains. He is a very hard worker with a Raider mentality.
