The Oakland Raiders held their fifth practice and finally broke out the pads and added hitting to their practice repertoire, although they did not tackle to the ground.
They got through first contact with no injuries and no fights. However, the safety tandem of Mike and Mike-Mike Mitchell and Michael Huff both took some flack for actually tackling.
Louis Murphy was the only one who was held out of practice due to injury. He did some light work on the side as he recovered from his concussion.
Chaz Schilens returned to practice after recovering from the pain in his foot.
During practice, Rolando McClain left the field and was accompanied by two members of the training staff. He returned shortly and practiced at full strength, giving the team a sign of relief.
No fights broke out on day one of contact.
Mike Mitchell pulled up on what would have been a clean shot on Darren McFadden, allowing McFadden to fight through the half hearted tackle. However, later in the practice Mitchell finished the job on Michael Bennett and got talked to on the sideline.
Michael Huff got some chiding after he took Rock Cartwright to the ground.
Robert Gallery more than held his own against Richard Seymour in blocking drills.

Curious to see how DHB caught the ball and how fast Ford really is in pads?
Good to hear no injuries, we need everyone healthy to start the season. Any news on B.Campbell or DHB?
Expect the fights to begin shortly. This is a very intense and competitive group of guys....
