'In Tom Cable we trust': Not just for the offensive line any more

Patrick A. Patterson/TFDSsports.com

Now that the Lane Kiffin era is officially over, the Tom Cable era begins for the Oakland Raiders. The question floating around the Nation is whether the team can focus on the game on the field now that the complete disarray of the front office has been exposed for the world to see

The biggest challenge for coach Tom Cable is going to be able to come in and take control of the team and win the respect of the players after replacing a coach who was popular with the team. Undoubtedly, there have to be divisions in the locker room as players likely lined up behind the guys they support. There also has to be confusion as to what exactly has gone down now that their coach has been publicly drawn through the mud.

Cable has to bring a sturdy hand and a strong disposition to bring the team together as one unit dedicated to victory. He will have his work cut out for him healing the wounds of not just the two consecutive late game collapses, the public feuding, and the general insanity that seems to have engulfed the Raiders organiztion.

The Raider Nation has had the slogan "In Tom Cable we trust" for the past year, as he was able to transform the Oakland Raiders offensive line from a laughing stock into a solid unit in only one season. Now, that slogan goes from the offensive line to the entire team. Cable was able to resurrect the career of Robert Gallery by putting him in the position to succeed, now he gets to shoulder the load of an entire franchise instead of just a position group.

Cable is going to leave the offensive play calling to offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, and the defensive play calling to Rob Ryan. He will still be working with the offensive line, but he has promised to work his magic with the rest of the team.

I am going to get these guys to channel their energy to be winners, because they are all winners.

Right now, the Raider organization desperately needs those wins to eliminate the stench of the Al Davis-Lane Kiffin feud. Nothing heals a team like winning. The last time the Raiders fired a coach in mid-season, his replacement had a winning record for the remainder of the season. Hopefully, for the sake of the Oakland Raiders and the Raider Nation, Tom Cable can duplicate that feat.

The Raider organization was not in complete dissray only Kiffin was not on board. You media types are the ones that blew everything out of proportion and always do so because you have become haters.

Wouldn't it be great when the new Raider (Cable) coach gets fired(no ifs, ands,or but's about it) NO ONE shows up to interview for the job?!

Yeah, but look at where that coach has been since then. I hope for Lane Kiffin its a repeat performance of Mike Shannon all over again. So then us Raider Fans can really see how delusional Al Davis is. I wish that old **** would die already so we can get back to being proud of our silver and black.
