Despite the recent dip in temperatures, two of Fort Greene's summer institutions have taken to the great outdoors.
Saturday at Bishop Loughlin High School on Lafayette, The Brooklyn Flea hosted it's second outdoor market of the season. Brooklyn came out to peruse the antiques and crafts and knick-knacks while snacking on any number of delicious snacks provided by the Flea vendors. There were lobster rolls and kimchi-topped hot dogs, porchetta sandwiches and pupusas, not to mention the pretzels, fish tacos and other snacks that have made the Flea a destination for the eating as much as the shopping.
A couple blocks away, summer hangout spot and eco-eatery, Habana Outpost celebrated Earth Day a few days early with an opening day expo. There were games and educational workshops for kids and adults on composting and recycling. There was also music, drinks and food coming from the big red truck.
