Fort Greene's No 7 isn't a place that accommodates to simple eating or simple drinking. Both food and drink menus bring together unusual elements to form delicious results.
The bar snacks include a soft boiled egg, breaded and deep fried and tacos made of braised pork shoulder and topped with bean sprouts.
Along the bar bottles and plastic containers hold mysterious infusions that go into cocktails that put together elements like bourbon, honeysuckle and lemon or gin with aromatic herbs.
The beer and wine lists are similarly obscure. Beers served come from breweries like Lakefront, Two Brothers and Lion's Head. Some wine styles and regions are generally familiar, but others seem invented out of nowhere.
t's vaguely possible to navigate the bar's lists drinking and eating only those few items that are served widely elsewhere. It's possible, but not nearly so rewarding as leaving yourself open to sampling some
of the creations and concoctions that would never have crossed your mind before.
See today's slideshow for a view from the bar.
