Last night Summerstage kicked off concert season in Red Hook park with hip-hop's up and coming MC, Jay Electronica. Fans braved looming rain clouds and the occasional drizzle to hear the rapper spit raps and move the crowd.
Honoring those that put him on and the notoriously difficult New York crowd that made him hone his skills, Jay pulled aspiring rappers up from the crowd to freestyle to the cheers and jeers of the crowd.
As the show closed, Jay brought up surprise guest Pharoahe Monch to rap a few bars. We last saw the Organized Konfusion alum last fall at the now-defunct Sputnik celebrating a decade since his solo debut album, Internal Affairs. Catch him live next month at his own summerstage show at Queensbridge Park on July 21st.
