Nneka brought her mix of African, reggae and soulful sounds to Highline Ballroom Monday night. PHotos by Clay Williams.
Monday night, The Highline Ballroom was host to an evening of international sounds as Nigerian-born, German-raised songstress Nneka filled the house to capacity. Nneka's songs recalled Fela Kuti's political message and the rythms and sounds of the diaspora.
Opening for the show, Bajah + Dry Eye crew, formerly of Sierra Leone, now of Brooklyn, got the audience hopping. Bajah was last seen here at Brooklyn Bowl's Coolhunter Jam last fall.
