All across the city, musicians are using their art to help raise funds for the benefit of Haitian relief funds. Here on Examiner.com, our New York City Life Examiner, Mona Molarsky has been covering some of the events going on including last night's L'Union Fait Force at Le Poisson Rouge.
The event, organized by Groove Collective, starred an eclectic host of artists donating their time and their music for a common cause. A standing room only audience enjoyed the sounds of Bernie Worrell , Dr. Lonnie Smith , Roy Hargrove , Vijay Iyer , Lionel Loueke & Richard Bona , Yatande Bwakaiman Vodou Drums and Swiss Chris.
By the end of the evening, the event brought in $5,000 for Haiti Action, Hands Together, The Lambi Fund of Haiti and Grassroots International.
See today's slideshow features highlights from the show, including when the night reached it's peak as The Doctor Lonnie Smith Trio's played an extended set with famed trumpeter, Roy Hargrove.
