The libations flowed freely at The Bell House last night at Edible Brooklyn's Good Spirits. Photos by Clay Williams.
While the warm weather might be inspiring some to diet for swimsuit season, the city's foodies are continuing the feeding frenzy with another food event last night. This time, it was paired with finely mixed cocktails.
Edible Brooklyn packed the Bell House in a celebration of food and drink. Called Good Spirits, the event paired eight of Brooklyn's best restaurants and cocktail havens to offer samples of their wares.
As with the other recent festivals, the food was top notch. In a signal towards barbecue season, smoked snacks were quite popular. New Boerum Hill favorite Mile End gave out slivers of its Montreal style Smoked Meat sandwiches, while Williamsburg's Fette Sau topped crisped polenta with its famous smoked pork belly.
The biggest crowd, which went 10 deep at times, was for the moles and ceviches served by nearby Palo Santo.
For all the tasty snacks, the cocktails that shined as brightly. Prospect Heights' The Vanderbuilt paired with Rhum JM to serve their Bali Ha'i, mixed with pineapples, house made ginger ale and hot Jamaican scotch bonnet peppers. Also on the spicy side, Ilegal Mezcal chased their shots with green and red sangrita. The thick, savory tomato based concoction slides down the throat slowly allowing you to appreciate the texture and flavor.
