On Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill, Deity is located in a former synagogue. It now houses a different type of worship.
Enter on the upper level and the first thing you'll see is the bar, a hexagonal altar housing dozens of wines, bourbons and beers. The bar's wide selection of liquors and cocktails immediately made it a favorite of connoisseurs.
The bartenders are quick to show off their mixology skills with flair. Flames shoot from martini glasses and flash off the rinds of lemons.
In the back you'll find the lounge, which recently began doubling as the Deity Supper Club. Offering dining selections provided by nearby Brooklyn Fare, the menu is currently filled with seasonal comfort dishes.
Keeping on message, the desserts, known as "Adult Indulgences" are all based on on liquors. Made by TrueVirgo, there are cookie sandwiches with a creamy Bailey's center and truffles filled with spiced rum among other treats.
The lower level, known as The Underground houses a dance club, which has regular performances including DJ sets in the next month spinning African beats, a weekly Reggae night and shows by DJ Dummy and A Tribe Called Quest alum, Ali Shaheed Muhammad.
