Can't beat Roller skating action down on the Boardwalk with live entertainment.
The Coney Island Mermaid Parade is happening albeit through rain on Saturday, June 20th, 2009 from 2pm-5:30.
Its a zany event in itself with people dressed up in all types of aquatic themed costumes, impromptu music and dancing. Here's a look at some of the zaniness from last year.
The Parade will occur from 2pm until at least 5:30pm. Take the D, F, N, or Q to Coney Island (Last stop). The Fastest lines are the Q and N.
What's just as interesting is the Official Mermaid Parade Ball at Dreamland Roller Rink which is located at 3052 W. 21st street at the Boardwalk. (its part of the Chids building)
It'll run in two parts from 5:30-8:30 pm and 9pm-Midnight. The cost is $20 and covers everything but shoe rental which you can bring your own or rent some for $5. Hey it out to be fun with Cabaret, Burlesque and sideshow performances.
WARNING THIS PROBABLY AIN"T FOR THE KIDS BUT THE KIDS AT HEART.
So those are two great events down on Coney Island. Hey even when it rains you have your option on the beach.
