Yankee Stadium security tight for World Series Game 1

Photos CBS/AP

(October 27, 2009) Another world series comes to Yankee stadium Wednesday night and so will First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden, the White House announced. Sources say that there will be a massive security presence inside and outside the ballpark. Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden will participate in pre-game ceremonies honoring military veterans and visit the VA Medical Center in the Bronx. The game is dedicated to a group called WelcomeBackVeterans.org, an organization that raises awareness and money to support veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families.

Fans are urged to arrive early to avoid missing any of the game between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fans in some parts of the stadium will have to pass through Secret Service metal detectors which will cause delays in getting to their seats. It does not matter who you are attending tomorrow night's game, everyone will be subject to security scrutiny and could be asked by security to "step over there, open your coat, put your arms out, have the officer with the wand wave it around you". The chilling and disturbing reality of our times means that not only will there be thousands of fans cheering, booing and clapping, but several thousand law-enforcement officials from multiple agencies will be looking this way, that way. Always looking.

Just across the street from Yankee stadium there will be a staging area for the New York City police, bluecoats by the hundreds. Concrete barriers will be placed outside the stadium, guarding against possible truck bombs, bomb sniffing dogs will be patrolling.

So on Wednesday night at Yankee stadium, they will all be gathered. Those who came to play. Those who came to watch. Those who came to protect.

Wrong Time to attend and disrupt the most important game of the current Yankee Team...The White House has a huge private theater. The cameras will be on her I CAN ASSURE YOU during crucial plays...I almost hope it's a rain out. Unless she has series tickets.
