Bob Greene a personal trainer and author does not mess around when it comes to fitness. When he first worked with Oprah Winfrey a contract was created outlining the beverages and foods that she could and could not have. Greene feels it’s important to honor commitments that we make to ourselves. Although recent headlines have branded Greene as the cause to Winfrey’s recent weight gain the two are working together again to get rid of the excess fat. The issue of weight will always be part of Winfrey’s life and evidently she can’t conquer it alone.
Oprah has turned to her long time friend and trainer once again in hopes of loosing the weight for good this time. Greene has just written “The Best Life Diet Cookbook” which is the second addition to “The Best Life Diet”. Most of his success is due to Oprah’s weight loss in the past. By following his staple rules she was able to shed the unwanted pounds.
One tip that Greene firmly believes in is eating three meals a day and one snack daily. Breakfast is important because it provides our bodies with a metabolism jolt. He also suggests waiting an hour before eating breakfast if you happen to wake up without an appetite. By eating bigger breakfasts and smaller dinners we increase our metabolism. We should always avoid eating the majority of calories in one meal because our body will automatically store the excess calories as fat.
Greene also believes that the weight loss process occurs in phases. The first phase is called “The Rev-up “, during this time (usually the first four weeks) a large amount of focus is placed on moving more and changing our eating habits.
The second phase is called “The Hunger Check” which also lasts four weeks. This is when you learn how to keep the calorie counting in check. By knowing when you’re truly hungry and avoiding sweets and other non-nutritional indulgences. Most importantly monitoring your portion control. There is a chart that helps make this process run more smoothly. To view the chart please visit Oprah.com.
The third stage is “The Happily Ever After” phase at which point phases 1 and 2 have become a way of life and it’s only a matter of maintaining the success you have achieved.
This worked for Oprah and it might work for you! It's important to remember getting the weight off is half the battle keeping the weight off is a way of life.
