Ode to Venus Williams, her gorgeous sister Serena Williams, and all of the ways that they have turned Western culture upside down since they were 12 years old.

The latest tennis brouhaha is over Venus Williams' shockingly inapropo lingerie look that she sported recently at the French Open. The look brought to mind one of the very important uniform rules at the very proper NYC Upper East Side girls' school where I spent my formative years: "No underwear is ever to be worn as outer wear." Well poo-poo on my headmistress because I have been dressing inappropriately ever since.

This brings us to Venus Williams and the French Open. Are we excited to see an American woman shining in the bastion of European culture? Absolutely. Am I personally moved by seeing a chocolate woman continue to do her thing in the esteemed white glove world of professional tennis? No doubt.

Perhaps I'm the wrong one to weigh in as every time I've been on a tennis court I've only been a spectator but I say, C'est La Vie.  Of course the look is non-traditional. Great fashion always is.

But then again I live in NYC. I can go see 10 chicas on the subway in this exact outfit. And truth be told, I have worn this in public. So what? The fact that Venus can wear it and then pimp the French Open and sell it to you and I? Dynomite.

Go on Venus, with your bad self.

Unsolicited Celebrity Advice: Well Venus, I did find the red touches along with flesh colored undies a bit tacky though but do you.
