What to switch on and what to switch off! Use it!
Finding inspiration on television while on a diet can be tough - advertisements can throw us right off our plans. But get your remote out and find the following shows that will inspire you, help you stay focused and entertained and a few shows you should avoid.
Shows to watch:
The Biggest Loser - nothing is more inspiring than this series for showing you the amazing benefits of diet and exercise. The contestants are obese to morbidly obese and yet they illustrate how the right combination of calories
coming in and going out can make an amazing difference.
Celebrity Fit Club - a favorite of mine because we see the highs and lows of trying to lose weight, how our moods can swing and is enhanced by the celebrities having that more ego than we do. Entertaining and realistic in showing how work and its stresses can get in the way of our goals. Worth watching to see if you recognize any of these traits in yourself.
Ugly Betty - the title is deceiving because there is nothing ugly about Betty. She's smart, funny and a total babe. But she shows us that even if we don't fit in with those around us, we can still be the star turn at work, home and in social situations.
Curb Your Enthusiasm - because you can be thin, rich and incredibly successful and still be a doofus. Fat doesn't make your personality.
Oprah - her weight issues alone are worth a million bucks, reminding us that even the great have issues with eating.
And an appearance by Dr. Oz Mehmet is gold for supportive health and weight issues. And her website is a mine of information on diet and health.
King of Queens - Just goes to show that overweight guys can be gorgeous too! Thank you, Kevin James!
American Idol - Simon Cowell's nasty comments aside (not to mention Randy's stomach stapling) we hear those big, soulful voices coming from the contestants of size reminds us that talent is not limited to the ultra-skinny.
Saturday Night Live - Is Keenan Thomson not the most talented comedian on that show? That man has a huge career ahead of him as long as he doesn't fall into the drug use that felled previous SNL alumni.
Shows not to watch:
America's Next Top Model - nothing makes me run to the fridge quicker than seeing a size six being told she is too
fat. Switch it off and never go near it again. It's soul destroying.
Paula Deen's Cooking Shows - it's like porn for overeaters.
Any teen movie - just say no!
I hope this helps you guide your way to shows that will inspire and if you have further ideas, please feel free to post, whether they are shows to watch or shows to avoid. Post your opinions now.
