Obstructed views at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium

Railing blocks the pitcher at Citi Field

While most fans seem to be giving the two new ballparks in New York City a general thumbs up, there are the occassional fans who are experiencing some pretty crummy views.

The blogosphere has been ripe with examples.

The blogger behind Scott Proctor's Arm took some pretty scary shots from his seats in New Yankee Stadium and the New Stadium Insider blog even took video from his seat.

I sat in Yankee Stadium on Saturday and experienced some non-optimal sightlines myself.

Meanwhile at Citi Field, there are issues with the railing blocking many seats.   The picture on the right is from my seat in section 504, row 3 on Friday night.    You can also find obstructed views from section 529 here. (Full disclosure, that's my personal site although I didn't write that article nor take the picture).

Lest you think I have a vendetta, the New York Times printed a report about obstructed views on Sunday.

Overall I found Citi Field to be excellent, in case you have an unlucky angle, and Yankee Stadium to be nice but not the major upgrade that Citi is for the Mets.

There are plenty of seats in rows 1 to 4 in prom that do not have a stairway problem. Do your research and you will be OK. I have section 521 row 2 and I purposely requested seats on the other side of the row where there is no stairs coming up. We need to get a list of what prom sections have the stairway problem and petition the mets to list and sell them as obstructed view. When I list the tickets I can not use on stubhub, I write nonobst in the row coloum, otherwise it's a gamble if you buy without knowing. Otherwise, the stadium is great, enjoy the season!
