The 14 makes its first appearance on the new scoreboard at New Yankee Stadium
For the Yankees, Saturday was as bad as it gets.
The Indians scored 14 runs in the second inning as they cruised to a 22-4 victory.
The 14 run frame was the most runs ever given up by the Yankees. The 22 runs tied the franchise record for runs allowed at home.
Fans and broadcasters alike are beginning to wonder about the amount of home runs at the new stadium, with eight more today.
As bad as all that sounds, the big story is Chien-Mien Wang. Wang lasted an inning and a third, had trouble keeping the ball down, and is now 0 and 3 with an ERA of 34.50. The Yankees defintiely have an issue here, and with Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy both pitching well at Triple-A, it seems likely that one of them will take Wang's next start. The question for the Yankees is what to do with Wang? Does he need to go to Scranton? Should he go down to work out in Tampa? Pitch long relief?
Ugly day. A.J. Burnett once again follows a Wang loss and will be the starter on Sunday.
