There's no doubt that this week has been filled with expectation, raw emotion and sheer triumph. The weeks and the months leading up to election day have been emotional and draining. However, politicians are not the only ones who were feeling the exhaustion. Many musical artists lent their hand to the promotion effort, and none worked as hard as Brooklyn-born Jay-Z.
Not only did Jay-Z give free concerts in Florida and Pennsylvania (key swing-states) to promote voting and Obama, but he also gave a speech with P-Diddy, the day before the election. Something that he said really touched me. It was a piece from a poem, but it is still unkown who the author is. In front of hundreds of young people in Pennsylvania, Jay-Z captivated the audience and said:
“I need y’all to be really, really quiet for this,” he said. “I need you to really understand what I’m telling you. Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther King could walk. Martin Luther King walked so Obama could run. Obama’s running so we all can fly."
Now... Isn't that precious???
