B & B. For some, that letter combination conjures up a quaint country inn providing a bed to sleep in and breakfast the next morning. For others it brings to mind a blending of the herbal liqueur Bénédictine and Brandy.
Seeking to extend the range of meanings for that alphabetic pairing, Chef Michael Lomonaco and Sommelier Roger Dagorn of the steak restaurant Porter House New York (10 Columbus Circle, 4th Floor, 212-823-9500) have announced a dinner of B & B to take place on February 9. In this case, the B's will stand for beef and Barolo. The event, which will be held in the restaurant's wine cellar, will feature poached filet mignon, beef short ribs, and dry-aged prime rib. Each course will be accompanied by a different Barolo, arguably the finest wine of Italy's Piedmont.
The cost per person will be $175, which amount will include tax and tip.
You can buy tickets at the Shops at Columbus Circle website (click here) or by phoning the restaurant at 212-823-9500.
