When you try to think up some of the oldest jokes in the book, one remember the classic, "what's the deal with airline food?"

It's hard to believe that stigma when your sitting in Delta's Sky360 Club located within Citi Field, enjoying a menu overseen by Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group. Delta (the official airline for the team) recently opened the  venue in an exclusive section in the ballpark of The New York Mets.

The Sky360 Club is 22,500-square-feet of restaurant, cafe, bar and lounge with 1,600 premium seats behind home plate (dugout to dugout). On a floor deemed 'The Sterling Level' windows provide behind-the-scenes perspectives including a view of the Met's bull-pen and enough plasma screens to put the Batcave to shame. The club offers everything from burgers to grilled smoked steak, and for drink, beer from Brooklyn Brewery and wines selected by Zachy's.

As an added bonus, select dishes from Shack Shake, Blue Smoke, Box Frites, El Verano Taqueria (overseen by Tabla's Chef Floyd Cardoz), Catch of the Day, Premio and The Original Cascarino's are also available throughout the ballpark. 'Taste of the City' was the name given to the group of restaurants that were brought in to provide consessions to the masses, rightfully so.

Here are quotes from the two of the three icons (Danny, Drew, Dave) behind the Citi Field's culinary rebirth:

"We know that the reason people come to the stadium is to see a Mets victory," said Meyer. "We know that anything we do, good, bad or otherwise, will do nothing to match the sweetness of a Mets victory. We also know that if we do a great job with our food, it's going to make a victory taste even sweeter and maybe even take the sting out of the rare defeat that happens."

"Having grown up a Mets fan, and now, with the opening of Citi Field, this was a tremendous personal opportunity to improve on the dining options we offer ballpark guests," said Drew Nieporent, owner of the Myriad Restaurant Group (Nobu, Tribeca Grill) "It's time for sports and entertainment venues to serve the highest quality food, and we're excited to help Citi Field lead the charge."

Delta is also sponsoring a batting challenge between baseball heavy-weights David Wright, of the Mets, and Derek Jeter, of the Yankee's, for charity.

Single tickets for the Mets at Citi Field are still available. The next game at home is July 7th against the Los Angeles Dodgers. To check availabilty for tickets for the Delta Club section or any other click here.
