Theatrical Poster of Dear John
Dear John premiered last weekend in New York City, knocking off Avatar as the top movie in the box office. Starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried, Dear John is the film adapation of the novel written by Nicholas Sparks. It chronicles the love between John, a young man who reenlists in the army after the 9/11 attacks and Savannah, an idealistic college student and humanitarian who helps him reconnect with his father.
The movie opens with a compelling scene in where we see John lying on the ground in his army gear, fatally wounded with gunshot wounds as he remembers a trip to the U.S. Coint Mint. He narrates that he is a coin in the United States of America's army and that the last person he thought about, before blacking out, was you.
New Yorkers may remember Nicholas Sparks as author of The Notebook, A Walk to Remember and Nights in Rodanthe. Sparks has a penchant for conflict in his love stories and makes it a point to not use the same confict again. In Dear John, distance and time serve as the main obstacles for John and Savannah when he's deployed to the Middle East.
However, Savannah is determined to hold on to their love. "Dear, John," she says. "Tell me everything. Write it all down. That way, we'll be with each other all the time, even if we are not with each other at all."
Dear John excels in character development and plot twists. An emotional scene shows John's growth when he reveals who he thought about before he blocked out when he was wounded. It is a movie that not only depicts the romantic love between two people, but the love between a father and his son.

Sounds like quite the date movie ;)
I recently checked out "From Paris with Love" with John Travolta and I gotta say I really enjoyed it. Travolta did a great job with the role and made the movie fun to watch. Recommended viewing!
I also saw Legion but the best parts were in the trailer lol.
It was so-so and left me thinking they didnt put enough meat into the movie.
The Wolfman is next!
