Saturday November 14, 2009 and Sunday Nov. 15th, Sacramento marks World Diabetes Day with events at the State Capitol on Saturday at 5:30 pm and at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm. Saturday evening the State Capitol will be lit up in blue. At the event, participatns will form a human circle around the building to raise awareness of diabetes, which costs California nearly $25 billion in health care each year.
On Sunday, the event is a vision health fair, sponsored by Prevent Blindness Northern California. At the event, doctors will dispense vision health advice and offer free vision screening.
