In addition to the area landed resorts, Dallas also has at least two organized non-landed nudists clubs. Non-landed club do not own physical property and facilities. Instead members meet regularly for house parties or travel together to established resorts, clothing-optional beaches or other places where nude recreation is possible. Until several years ago, non-landed nudist clubs were known as travel clubs.
The two organized Dallas non-landed clubs are Sunbird Sun Club and North Texas Naturists. Both are affiliated with both the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) and The Naturists Society.
Sunbirds Sun Club
Sunbirds has according to the club website, been in existence since 1994. The club practices wholesome, non-sexual social nudity in keeping with the tenants of the two mainstream national organizations the club is affiliated with.
As far as membership policy, the website states that Sunbirds is “always accepting couples for new membership.” With respect to singles, the published club policy is that “new single members are accepted only upon the recommendation of an existing member.” The published policy with respect to singles however apparently varies since as late as last year a response from the club president, received in reply to a membership inquiry, indicated that Sunbirds accepted only new couple members and did not accept new single members at any time.
Frequently non-landed clubs do refuse or limit membership to male singles. While such policies are highly discouraged by The Naturist Society, it is simply a fact of life that many non-landed clubs feel it necessary to maintain parity among the sexes in order for them to be successful. One justification often offered is that females feel less comfortable in social nudist settings when they are outnumbered by males by too wide a margin.

North Texas Naturists
Unlike the more established Sunbirds, according to the club website, North Texas Naturists is a fledgling non-landed club organized just last year. The club advertises that it embraces wholesome, non-sexual social nudity and it is affiliated with AANR and The Naturist Society.
Membership information presented on the website indicates that North Texas Naturists is an all-inclusive club and welcomes anyone, both couples and singles, who subscribe to traditional nudist philosophies.

Advantages of membership in non-landed clubs
Non-landed clubs fill a niche for Dallas nudists who cannot regularly find the time to make the drive to one of the landed clubs or resorts. House parties provide a means for Dallas nudists to socialize with other like minded people on a more regular and frequent basis. They also facilitate organization of group nude recreation travel events where the members travel together or meet at nudist resorts in the Dallas area, statewide or even resorts outside the country. These clubs provide yet another means of getting acquainted and networking with others involved in Dallas nudist culture.
