A report in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution revealed an 11-year veteran of the Newnan police is charged with child molestation. He was involved in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
The 34-year-old officer, Todd Lengsfield had improper contact via a cell phone that was issued for business purposes. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations was brought in to investigate criminal activity.
He was put on administrative leave as the investigation was put into place and then relieved of his duties on August 4, 2009. He was arrested and charged with child molestation.
It seems there is something like this in the news quite often anymore and parents must take precautions to protect their children.
Parents have to be careful with children and technology. There are so many different ways for a predator to reach out to young teens today. Computer usage should be kept in a public area of the home and cell phones should be monitored to make sure children are not speaking or texting with people that are not known to the parents. With technology advancing like it is, parents have to stay a step ahead to keep the children safe.
Chat rooms and instant messengers on the computer can pose as a safety hazard to children. Even video games allow children to deal with others online. Predators will represent themselves as other teens or young people to warm up to them. It’s imperative for parents to stay connected to what young teens and children are doing on computers and cell phones and know whom they are talking with and where they are spending their time. In today’s fast paced world a parent needs to keep their kids safe.

First off I think that is is 100% crazy that this man is even linke dto an article about on-line preditors. Todd met this girl in the real world. He met her with out the aid of any computer. All of the facts, most of the facts are not even mentioned here. There was no sex, the girl lied about her age and all her friends lied about her age and he had even met her parents. It was only after her monther got upset with her that she pressed charges as punishment.
