Walmart employee leaks information about Zhu Zhu Pets

In a former article, I wrote that Walmart was receiving a large shipment of Zhu Zhu Pets, this season’s most popular and elusive toy. Just this morning I received a personal e-mail from a Walmart employee who wishes to remain nameless, but gives additional information about the upcoming sale of Zhu Zhu Pets. The e-mail reads as follows:

“Please do not use my email address as I am an employee at Wal-mart and not allowed to tell this info. However the big stores (like Colorado) are getting 90 to sell on each day. I was told they are expecting people to line up starting at night and spend the night just to get them. Hope this helps you.”

This is good news for parents hoping to score a Zhu Zhu Pet for the holidays. Walmart originally said that it would have at 60 pets to sell per day at its larger stores. Now it looks as if the country’s largest retailer will have 90 per store per day. There is a limit of one per customer, and it looks like Walmart is already planning on big crowds. The Zhu Zhu Pets will be offered at Walmart on Monday, December 21st through Wednesday, December 23rd, beginning at 7:00 a.m., and lasting until the store sells out of its daily allotment. This will go on for three days. Each Zhu Zhu Pet will sell for $8, which is significantly lower than eBay prices.

Toys R’ Us has stated that it has more than one million of the fuzzy Zhu Zhu Pets to sell at its stores nationwide, beginning on Saturday, December 19th through Christmas Eve. Each store will have an inventory of 100 of the Zhu Zhu’s to sell each day, at a price of $9.99 each. The stores will begin selling its daily allotment of 100 each morning from 7:00 a.m. until it runs out. This will repeat each day through December 24th.

What do you think? Will you stand in line to score a Zhu Zhu Pet, or do you just not understand the whole craze?

Seriously? People are going to stand in line for hours, over night even, just to buy ONE zhu zhu pet? Call me crazy, but I would rather log on to ebay and pay $20 w/shipping. Right now zhu zhus are going for $10 - $20 on ebay! I bid on one for $9.99 and free priority shipping and I was the only bid!!!
