JSPAN's Ruth Damsker, Dr. Howard Swidler, Rabbi Eric Cytryn
One of the strongest voices in favor of HB 1393 is Dr. Howard Swidler MD, an Emergency Medicine specialist who works at the Warren Hospital. He spoke at the historic first hearings on medical marijuana in PA held on December 2, 2009.
Swidler fielded the greatest amount of questions form the members of the PA House Health and Human Services Committee. His back and forth with the legislators on the topic of medical cannabis was direct and very enlightening.
The doctor testified as part of a panel of distinguished members of the group JSPAN, The Jewish Social Policy Action Network. The others included Rabbi Eric Cytryn of Harrisburg and former Montgomery County Commissioner Ruth Damsker.
The group who has spearheaded the medical marijuana effort in PA, Pennsylvanians for Medical Marijuana, has posted clips of the HB 1393 hearings on YouTube.
Dr. Swidler accurately represents the medical perspective on the use of therapeutic cannabis. Below is part 2 of the Question and Answer portion of Dr. Swidler’s testimony. His full time before the committee is posted in 2 other clips. He quells out-of-date arguments with great aplomb and respected expertise.
