Nora Roberts now has an official Facebook fan page, as does her accomplice in crime, J. D. Robb. Roberts' publicist, Laura Reeth, informed the members of Roberts' ADWOFF fan site of the newly created Facebook | Nora Roberts Official Fan Page and the Facebook | JD Robb Official Fan Page on January 12, 2010.
It will be Reeth instead of Roberts who will answer fan queries on the two new pages, which were developed by Roberts' webmaster, Eileen Buckholtz. Roberts will continue her previous practice of using the ADWOFF "SQs for Nora" forum for her personal communications.
Some confusion may exist regarding two earlier Facebook pages created by Roberts' fans. Over 1400 individuals have signed up for Facebook fan page entitled Facebook | Nora Roberts A second Facebook fan page, also entitled Facebook | Nora Roberts, has 62 fans. Those who joined either of these pages under the impression that they were official sites should subscribe instead to the new pages.
Facebook members who join fan pages receive new messages from those pages as a part of their live newsfeeds. However, one does not have to be a Facebook member to access fan pages. Bookmarking the addresses of fan sites give those who are not Facebook members quick access to them.
Despite the fact that Roberts will not be directly responding to questions on her official Facebook pages, the new pages have already proven their value in bringing new information quickly to her readers. Roberts' fans have learned of the availability of a full booklist of Roberts' original publications and of an excerpt from her next In Death Novel, Fantasy in Death. Fantasy in Death will be released February 23, 2010.
Among other Facebook fan pages of interest to Roberts' followers is the recently created Facebook | InDeath.net page. This site, established by the InDeath.net webmaster, Amy Ryan, supplements that website's excellent resources for followers of the J.D. Robb In Death series. Roberts' UK publisher, Piatkus, maintains Facebook | Nora Roberts (UK) for her British fans. Facebook | Nora Roberts Movies focuses on the Lifetime films of Roberts' novels. The Nora Roberts Examiner has a fan page as well, Facebook | Nora Roberts Examiner.
