George Pelecanos to attend September booksigning at Turn the Page Bookstore

Writer and producer George Pelecanos will join Nora Roberts for a Sept. 17, 2011 booksigning at the Turn the Page Bookstore in Boonsboro Md. Other writers autographing copies of their recent publications at the event include Jeanne Adams, Heather Graham, Stephen Bockmiller and Tim Rowland.

Pelecanos began his writing career in 1992 with A Firing Offense, the first title in his three-book Nick Stefanos series. The DC Quartet (1996-2000) followed, as did the Derek Strange and Terry Quinn series (2001-2004).

With the Aug. 29 release of The Cut, Pelecanos has launched a new mystery series featuring Spero Lucas. Lucas, a young veteran of the Iraq war, now works as an investigator specializing in the recovery of stolen property.

In addition to these mystery series, Pelecanos has also written five standalone novels. One of these, The Night Gardener, won the 2007 Barry Award for Best Novel.

Pelecanos is also known for his work as a film and television producer. His most recent production was the HBO series The Wire, for which he was also a writer and story editor.

Nora Roberts, who with her husband, Bruce Wilder, owns the Turn the Page Bookstore, will also be signing copies of her recent publications at the Sept. 17 signing. New York to Dallas, to be released Sept. 13, is Roberts' latest work and is a part of her In Death mystery series, written under her J.D. Robb pseudonym.

Heather Graham published her first book, When Next We Love, in 1982. Since then, she has written such best selling romantic suspense titles as Drop Dead Gorgeous (1998) and Killing Kelly (2005). Graham’s latest work, The Evil Inside (Aug. 30) is the fourth book in her Krewe of Hunters series.

Jeanne Adams has written four romantic suspense novels. Deadly Little Lies, released Sept.1, follows her 2010 title, Deadly Little Secrets.

Nonfiction writers Stephen Bockmiller and Tim Rowland have each published civil war histories. Bockmiller’s Hagerstown in the Civil War, part of the Images of America Series, debuted on April 11. Strange and Obscure Stories of the Civil War, which Tim Rowland wrote with J.W. Howard, will be out Sept. 27.

The Turn the Page Bookstore, located at 18 N. Main St. in Boonsboro, Md, hosts several signings such as this every year. Additional events in 2011 are planned for Oct. 29 and Dec.3.
