Black Hills included in Good Morning America Picks for Great Summer Reading

The ABC broadcast, “Good Morning America,” has included Black Hills, the Nora Roberts novel scheduled to reach bookstores on July 7, 2009, among its list of titles recommended for summer reading. Roberts’ latest work focuses on the story of two childhood sweethearts, Lil Chance and Cooper Sullivan.

According to Penguin Group, Roberts' publisher, the two characters meet when 11-year-old Cooper comes to spend the summer at his grandparents’ farm in South Dakota’s Black Hills. Soon Cooper’s summer visits become a frequent event, and his friendship with Lil develops into romance, marred only by their discovery of the body of a hiker. Cooper breaks up with Lil later, for reasons he doesn't explain.

Twelve years later, Cooper, who has been working as a private investigator in New York City, returns to the Black Hills to help his elderly grandparents. Meanwhile, Lil has achieved her dream of becoming a wildlife biologist and has opened the Chance Wildlife Refuge. Lil must seek Cooper’s assistance when danger threatens the wildlife refuge and her own life is jeopardized.

The complete “Good Morning America” list of Great Summer Reads contains books in mystery, fiction, nonfiction and light reading categories. The light reading category, which includes Black Hills, contains these titles as well.
