First Lady Michelle Obama will be the keynote speaker at the Business and Non-Profit Philanthropy Summit & Awards on June 16th, 2009. The event is sponsored by Greater DC Cares. The organization is joined this year by Washington Post Media who will co-sponsor the event. Greater DC Cares is a leading coordinator of volunteerism and service in the DC Metro area. The summit will bring together nonprofit leaders and executives to focus on philanthropy, partnerships and volunteerism.
Morning events will include panel discussions as well as three learning opportunities in the areas of Impact, Innovation and Partnerships. The goal is to create a strong networking partnership from which to draw ideas and create new partnerships to increase the level of volunteerism and stakeholder participation.
The Awards Luncheon will follow the morning summit and informational panels. The luncheon will also honor the CEO’s of organizations that have made philanthropy a primary focus. Among the awards to be presented include: The Nonprofit Social Value Leadership and Nonprofit Community Impact as well as additional business awards.
The event will be held at the Washington Renaissance Holel located in Washington, DC.
