Sarah Palin launches book with media blitz

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is a busy woman this week after the Tuesday release of her best-selling book Going Rogue. As part of her media blitz, she’s been on Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters, will make appearances on the Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly shows, and was interviewed on air by Rush Limbaugh. She has even appeared on a controversial Newsweek cover in which the magazine used an unauthorized reprinting of a photograph from the August 2009 issue Runner’s World.

Palin is remaining silent about the question to which most want an answer: Is she going to run for President in 2012. She has stated it’s not on her “radar screen” at this current juncture, however, “when you consider some of the ordinary turning into extraordinary events that have happened in my life, I am not one to predict what will happen in a few years.”

It’s likely that she’s using the book and her coverage this week and beyond to jump start a 2012 run, but she’s not showing her hand. “My ambition if you will, my desire, is to help our country in whatever role that may be, and I cannot predict what that will be.”

Palin has also had some choice words about President Obama during the early going this week by rating him a four out of 10 for Barbara Walters. “I think our economy is not being put on the right track, because we're strayed too far from, fundamentally, from free enterprise principles that built our country. And I question, too, some of the dithering, and, hesitation, with some of our national security questions that have got to be answered for our country.”

Rush Limbaugh asked her more issue-specific questions such as the 10.2% unemployment rate and drilling for oil in Alaska. He also spoke with the governor about the current state of the Republican party.

Her interview schedule seems to be taking a strategy of getting the more hostile settings out of the way first. Oprah and Barbara Walters are liberal environments for the conservative politician, but the Oprah interview went over quite well with the two chatting casually about journaling. Palin will appear on Sean Hannity’s show on Fox News on Wednesday night, and will be featured in multiple segments on Bill O’Reilly’s “Factor” on Thursday and Friday. Hannity is boasting an interview that will stick to the issues of the nation, while O’Reilly is promising an interview that will be very similar to the type of interview he conducted with Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign.
