Not so long ago there was another President in the White House; his name was George W. Bush. When President Bush signed the $700 billion economic bailout plan at the end of his second term, his approval rating had fallen below 30%. The only place Bush could go without being heckled or hated was to sleep. The subject of fierce disrespect, the conservative media circled their wagons around the republican president. It was a mother who lost her soldier son to the war on terror who became the outspoken Anti-Bush. The conservative media trashed her for opposing the President. Media Celebrity Glenn Beck said “Cindy Sheehan is a tragedy slut.” Skeletal Ann Coulter said, “To expiate the pain of losing her firstborn son in the Iraq war, Sheehan decided to cheer herself up by engaging in Stalinist agitprop outside Bush's Crawford ranch. Someone needs to teach these liberals how to mourn.”
The Conservative Media had their complaints; numero uno being Bush’s failure to close the southern border and his non-concern for the “steady stream” of immigrant’s illegally entering America. Instead of leading the opposition to the president, the conservative opinion shapers aligned themselves with organizations like the Minute Men, American citizens who volunteered to take up arms to patrol the border. They invited the Minute Men on their TV and radio programs. Conservative talkers endorsed the illegal immigrant protests, some were key note speakers. They have since distanced themselves from such groups after a threesome of former Minute Men murdered a Latino and his 9 year old daughter in Arizona.
Regular listeners to the rights giant opinion machine could testify that the leaders of the conservative movement, those multi-millionaire conservative talk show hosts, usually lashed out at Bush bashers often repeating things like “You can disagree with the president but you should respect him” But “If you disagree with the commander in chief, you’re giving aid and comfort to our enemies” And “If you oppose the war, you are un-American and un-patriotic” because “You can’t support the troops if you don’t support their mission.”
Where have these conservative philosophies gone? How do you go from defending one war time president with “Isn’t the world a better place without Saddam Hussein in it?” to “I hope he fails” and “He hates white people.” with the next commander in chief? How do you call your president the Anti-Christ? Why do you try to mislead the public with statements such as the majority of the country doesn’t want health care reform when it was the majority that voted for reform last year in the presidential elections?
