Biennial of the Americas, a month-long celebration of culture, ideas and people of the Western Hemisphere kicked off with the opening night gala festivities on Thursday at Civic Center Park's newly renovated McNichols building.
Hosted by the City of Denver, the international event will last through the end of July and will feature art exhibitions, cultural programming and conversational roundtables aimed at developing a unified vision for the future of the Western Hemisphere's nations.
City of Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper was among the guests of Thursday's gala event at McNichols, which will serve as the main stage for the Biennial and an architectural space to showcase art, inspire creativity and sharing of ideas.
Attendees of the opening night gala enjoyed open bar and complimentary appetizers, in addition to getting a sneak peek at The Nature of Things art exhibit -- a 30,000 square foot collection of visual media, sculptures and art installations.
