On Friday, February 10, 2012, from 7 to 9 pm, the Epiphany 50th Jubilee Concert will feature an evening of world class music.
This special piano concert will take place at Epiphany Catholic Church on Lafayette Street in Port Orange. The featured performer will be Francesco Attesti, an international Italian classical pianist. Among his generation of musicians, he is considered one of the finest interpreters of the Romantic and early Twentieth Century repertoire.
The opening act will be harpist Melody Long Anglin, playing versatile styles of Classical Harp, Jazz Harp, Pop Harp, Therapeutic Harp, Sacred, Celtic Harp, Broadway and Opera.
Refreshments will follow the two performances. There is a $20 donation for attendance at the concert.
ABOUT FRANCESCO ATTESTI
Attesti began studying the piano at the age of six, performing his first public concert at the age of 11 (the Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Bach). At age 16 he met Sergio Perticaroli, who invited him, in a rare opportunity, to the summer courses at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, where he explored the romantic piano repertoire, especially Chopin and Liszt. His lessons with Master Perticaroli continued in Rome and led him to win several national and international piano competitions.
In 1998 he graduated with top marks at the Conservatory L. Cherubini in Florence under the guidance of Luigi Tanganelli. Subsequently, he attended master classes with Jacques Rouvier and Hector Moreno, where he explored the repertoire for piano and various contemporary composers. He was invited to record a CD of contemporary music for Rugginenti Publishers on texts by the poet Edoardo Sanguineti. Since then, he has had collaborations and recordings for various labels such as Agora, Max Research, and Drycastle with contemporary composers such as Silvia Bianchera Bettinelli, Biagio Putignano, and Raoul De Smet, including a performance with the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of Prague.
He also recorded a world premiere for "The Voices of the City" with fellow organist Matteo Galli, featuring the piano and organ in the Verdi Requiem. He produced a CD titled "Feeling Chopin", entirely dedicated to the Polish composer.
