The Clark County Gaming Control Board has been on a mission it seems–to clean up the various nightclubs, ultra lounges, and topless pools that inhabit Las Vegas Boulevard. Recently, county officials have been looking into the operations of close to a dozen Strip hot spots, but seem to be making Prive nightclub at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino the poster child for reprehensible behavior.
Earlier this month, the Gaming Control Board investigated Prive, and cited them for nine serious infractions, fined them $750,000 and set a looming deadline for when these citations must be addressed. Planet Hollywood, which leases the space to the Miami-based company that owns club Prive, agreed with the boards findings that steps must be taken to further ensure the safety of the clubs guests, as well as the hotels general population. The Gaming Commission agreed to meet on July 23 to discuss lessening Prives fines if all issues has been properly addressed. The nine allegations that were outlined by the commission included lewd behavior, minors being served alcohol, club staff not monitoring alcohol intake more carefully, possible illegal prostitution, and intoxicated guests being removed from the property and left to their own accord all carry the serious weight of shutting down Prive permanently.
However, Clark County’s Business License Department decided to revoke Prive’s liquor license at the July 23 hearing citing the failure “to abide by the duties of a liquor licensee.” Club Prive, as well as its ultra lounge the Living Room, were issued and immediate cease and desist order that was to be carried out by midnight. Lawyers for Planet Hollywood said that Prive would seek a temporary liquor license so that business could resume until August 4, while club lawyers appealed for a more permanent solution. As of print time, Prive is still advertising upcoming August events and guest DJs on its website, as well as the social networking site Twitter.
