While this writer mostly describes the latest happenings in bars and clubs, the new Bakeshop in Ballantyne has a Thursday treat so tempting, it’s hard to keep it a secret. Every Thursday, the Bakeshop offers guests an “adult” cupcake menu. Candy-holics beware, the cupcakes that are about to be described are so delectable, any chance for rehab will be long gone.

Each Thirsty Thursday, the bakers feature a different alcoholic cupcake. Drinks, I mean, treats that the bakeshop have made are as follows:

Irish Car Bomb: Guiness chocolate cake, a whiskey ganache and topped with a Baileys Buttercream

Sweet Potato Bourbon cupcake: Sweet potato bourbon cupcake topped with a Bourbon Buttercream and drizzled with caramel

Limoncello Martini Cupcake: Vanilla Vodka cake topped with a Limoncello buttercream

White Russian Cupcake: Vanilla and Kahlua cake topped with a Kahlua buttercream

Cointreau Cupcake: Orange cake infused with Cointreau and topped with a Cointreau buttercream (information as found in the Blushing Bakeshop pamphlet).

Also worth mentioning is Thrifty Tuesdays, where the bakeshop offers all cupcakes for $2 each- holla!

So while the Blushing Bakeshop is not the place nightlifers should go to party and get crunk, it’s the best place to grab a pre-party cupcake, and enjoy the warm weather with the gang. After all, who says that a night out can’t start with a good afternoon out?

Either way, one thing is for sure, once a guest enters the Blushing Bakeshop, he or she will live up to the shop’s name. The light, gently whipped cupcakes are enough to cause anyone to overindulge, and blush for doing so- or maybe that’s the alcohol showing.
