Dixie's Tavern, located on East 7th Street, is always a crowd pleaser just about any night of the week! They have great food, ice cold beer, and live entertainment. It is a 21 and up bar, which is just lovely, and the staff is absolutely awesome!
As far as the menu goes, think Cajun! They have a huge menu with just about everything on it from chicken to seafood to salads and sandwiches, but their best stuff are the Cajun items-including jambalaya, chicken Lafayette, and some alligator! They also have ribs, BBQ, salads, and wings (which on Thursdays are 25 cents!) Dixie's is open for lunch and dinner from 11am-10pm Monday through Saturday and they also serve appetizers until 11pm.
On Monday nights, during football season, you can go watch the Steelers play for Monday F'n Funday nights along with some karaoke. On Two Dollar Tuesdays, you can get two tacos for $2 and $2 beer of the month (normally Miller Lite) as well as 35¢ oysters. Dixie's does have more killer beer specials on Thursday nights, for Thirsty Thursdays, along with music trivia. Pretty much any night you want to go to Dixie's you will get great drink specials and a really good time. Dixie's is also the host of huge parking lot concerts, like Uncle Sam Jam and the upcoming Grave Digger's Ball-more on that later!!
On weekends Dixie's gets pretty packed, but they do have 3 bars and a couple of beer tubs as well as an outdoor patio for overflow with tables and chairs. Even though it's busy you will get served fast, these bartenders have been around forever! People don't just sit around and drink at this bar, they also dance around! They don't really play 'club music' but it is fun music to dance to and just have a good time! You will always have a blast!
Parking is easy, they have a their own enormous parking lot-even though you do have to pay to park, at least there isn't a cover. It is also really close to a light rail stop!
Next time you go downtown, definitely stop by Dixie's if you want to have a great time and meet fun people. Don't forget to tip your bartenders well!!
