Howl at the Moon, located on the third floor of the Epicenter on East Trade, is the only deuling piano bar downtown and guaranteed entertainment. Open Wednesday through Saturday nights, HATM has live music each night and the musicians are awesome.
The atomsphere is a little older, like late 20's to 30's, and is more laid back than it's downstairs
neighbor, Whisky River. HATM is pretty busy on the weekends, and is always 21 and up, which is nice to avoid the insane college crowd! Even though they are busy and the house is packed on the weekends, service is fast and polite. They have tables and chairs throughout, so it's a nice to place to SIT, drink and enjoy the music. The musicians encourage crowd participation, which is really fun and entertaining. You can reserve a table right in front of the stage for a special event, like a birthday party or bachelorette party, and you will have your own personal cocktail waitress.
The musicians will amaze you with the numerous songs they know and the skits they perform. Your hips will be moving and you will be singing along all night. The dueling pianos battle for tips the whole night, and you can also place a bid on the 'Phrase of the Night' mirror-someone pays to have their phrase written on the mirror and if you out bid them, the band will write your phrase on the mirror-anything you want!
There is a $7 cover on Friday and Saturday nights, but you aren't getting in anywhere for free in the Epicenter unless you're on a list, so just get over it. Thursday nights you get in free with your college ID, still must be 21 and older, and specials are $2 Bud Light bottles and $3 24oz Long Island Bones. Friday nights are known as the 'Longest Happy Hour Party.' On Fridays, you can enter for a chance to win a Happy Hour party. Saturday nights are pretty awesome as well, they have their special of $20 Buckets o' booze!!
HATM has special events every now and then, like around the holidays. Coming up on September 6th, they will host their Labor Day Luau, so break out your Hawaiian shirts and come get leied. The party starts at 6pm and goes until they close. Specials for the night include $2.75 Coors Light, $6 Beach Bombs, and $25 86oz. Paradise Skyy Buckets. You can also enter for a chance to win $500 in cash and prizes. HATM will also be hosting a Halloween party with costume contest-you know we love to dress up-more info on that later.
So get your girls (or your guys) and head out to Howl at the Moon for an unforgettable night that will leave you wanting more. Don't forget to tip your bartenders and servers well and no drinking and driving.
