Draft Day decision makers: Denver Broncos

Brian Xanders is the General Manager, but head coach Josh McDaniels has a lot of say in personnel matters. The also rely on Matt Russell their director of College scouting. This will be this bran trust's second NFL draft, and to be fair there is a lot of room for improvement.

2009 NFL Draft one year later: Denver Broncos

With five selections if the first two rounds of the 2009 NFL draft the Broncos should have been able to score a lot more talent than they did. I cannot believe that they had five of the first 64 picks in this draft, and they really only scored with the 12th overall pick. One year ago I had a hard time trying to figure out their overall strategy. While thy should have been using their draft picks to find players for their new 04 defense, they spent a lot of picks on defensive backs even though they had signed S Brian Dawkins in free agency.

What should the Denver Broncos do with their first round draft pick?

Before the Denver Broncos get to the NFL Draft they are going to have to answer the Brandon Marshall question. Can the team live with him still on the roster, or does he need to be traded away? That question alone will determine what the Broncos should do with the 11th overall pick.

What are the Denver Broncos needs heading into 2010?

The Denver Broncos found themselves on the wrong side of two four game losing skids after their bye week in 2009. We shouldn’t say that they are in a rebuild mode, especially considering they swapped out 34 players in 2009, but there is some work to be done.

Fix the Franchise: Denver Broncos edition

The Denver Broncos may be on the right path, but there is a lot of work to do. First and foremost they must get the Brandon Marshall situation taken care of, that probably means trading him on draft day for as many draft picks as they can get. Since Anquan Boldin got a third and a fourth round pick for the Arizona Cardinals, Marshall should get that or a little bit more. This team must also do what they do in free agency, but on draft day. Last year’s draft was pretty awful. Only the first round selection of Knowshon Moreno saved it from being graded as a F.

2009 NFL season in review: Denver Broncos

Talk about feast or famine, the Denver Broncos opened the year with six straight wins, then lost four in a row, then one two straight, and lost four in a row down the stretch. An 8-8 record is good, but this team seemed capable of a whole lot more. Head Coach Josh McDaniels must now find a way to motivate his team when things are bad, and force this team to live up to their expectations. The big question that must be answered immediately is what to do with WR Brandon Marshall .

Did the Denver Broncos do Brandon Marshall a huge favor?

We all remember the tumultuous training camp of the Denver Broncos. We all remember WR Brandon Marshall demanding a new contract, or a trade. We also remember that the Denver Broncos suspended him for nine games. With all of that Marshall has had an outstanding season, and one has to wonder if the Broncos have done this kid a huge favor.

Kyle Orton likely to miss must win game for Broncos

Kyle Orton missed his third straight practice yesterday, and his chances at starting Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers are slim. Kyle has a sprained left ankle, which he suffered in last week's loss to the Washington Redskins. If he cannot start Broncos backup QB, Chris Simms, will start in his place.

Broncos suspend Marshall for rest of pre-season

On Thursday the Denver Broncos suspended Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall for the rest of the pre-season. Marshall will be eligible to return to the team September 6th to get prepared for the first game of  the regular season. The team felt they had to make this move in response to a bad attitude displayed by Marshall and several incidents that occurred over the course of Wednesday’s team practices. Really though this is something that has been brewing for the entire summer.

Brandon Marshall wants out of Denver

Brandon Marshall and the Denver Broncos are at an impasse. Brandon would like a new contract more in line with his status as a premier receiver in this league. To this point Marshall has a pretty good argument. he was the most targeted receiver in the NFL in 2008.  The number two guy on that list, Andre Johnson of the Houston Texans, makes 7.5 million dollars a year. The Number three guy on that list, Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals makes 10 million dollars per season. By comparison Marshall made just 448,000 dollars in 2008. He is set to make 2.2 million for 2009.

2009 Denver Broncos Draft Analysis

To say the Broncos are a mess might be a little too easy. This is a team looking for a new identity. After 13 seasons under head coach Mike Shanahan, this team is looking to begin anew with Coach Josh McDaniels. Now the New Coach will try to install some of the New England Patriots system to the Broncos.
