A hot topic these days: New ways to make money! Many people are reinveting their careers after a job loss, and even doing what they've always dreamed about.
I got an email from a public relations person pitching me some websites for "people that are internet savvy and in-between jobs". I took a look, and well, it seemed like these sites could help some profit from their passions, so I decided to pass them along.
And since we're all in this crazy economy together, let me know how well the websites below work! If there are other 'reinvention' sites you find that are helpful, leave your comments below or email me. I'll create an online bulletin board of ideas.
Mymusicsite.com No more cubicles, be a rockstar ! Sell your music, ring tones and songs
This site claims to allow independent musicians and producers to promote their product, and sell their ring tones, songs, beats and albums, all for free! If someone is looking for some extra cash, and would like to turn their career toward something they love to do,
mymusicsite.com has a free downloadable book by the site's CEO, Brad Turk, about making success happen for yourself and not waiting for others to do it for you.
Turk says, "independent artists are now able to sell their music instantly online. By spending some time marketing and promoting themselves online or to friends and family these artists can now create an income stream over night. With the advances in technology and the internet, now artists with music don't need to wait for a record label to start making some money. They can take their finances into their own hands and start selling their music right away with no start- up costs. Great time to manage your own or your little brother's career (for a small cut of course)!"
This website isn't free, but it proclaims to help you start a consulting firm, or any type of company, by creating a virtual office to work with others around the country. It says it, "seamlessly pulls in contacts that you know are talented and looking for work by using online internet-based tools that allow for people to connect seamlessly as long as they are connected to the internet." (Yikes, say that out loud without taking a breath!)
The company says its "StreetSmart" tool, allows people to create a branded intranet to check email, calendars, create projects and more-- for penny's a day per user.
Siamak Farah, CEO of InfoStreet, is offering new users a "move-in special" which will task a launch manager to move over users data, brand the site, and train users (a $5200.00 savings). This way a company can be created within a matter of days, by just connecting talented people together to create a new company or a consultant group looking for project work.
Largesoftware.com Resell Software
Okay, so you aren't a rockstar here, but you may be able to become a superstar reseller. Several IT companies offer programs were people receive money for "reselling" their product.
Nick Forcier, CEO of Large Software, says it's pretty simply: Anyone who sells their product gets paid. "Reselling our products is so easy, who do you know that doesn't say they want a faster PC, if you asked 100 people if they wished they had a faster PC, I bet 99 1/2 would say yes." The company claims you can sell their product, "PC Tune-Up" to your Aunt, uncle, sister or the local coffee shop down the street via a download, and for every unit you sell you get a percentage.
