One of my editors apparently has a problem with winsome elderly ladies, because 91-year-old Olga Drozvik did not make the cut in my Obama-Biden choo-choo coverage. That's OK, because I am giving Olga a holla right here!
Olga is one of those woman-on-the-street subjects who will light up the most haggard reporter's day. With a wind chill of 10-below to boot, this was quite a feat.
I met Olga on Saturday in Wilmington, amid a massive gathering of folks waiting for now-President Barack Obama and VP Joseph Biden to stop on their way down to Washington. Slightly hard of hearing, Olga's daughter Anne-Marie was on hand to aid in our interview.
The Scranton native is a huge fan of both Biden and Obama, but grew most animated when I asked her about President Bush.
"Oh, come on!" she cried. "I'm just so glad he's gone. I wanted to push him out, push him out!" she gestured with her hands. "Putting up with him for eight years was too much, oh boy!"
I am no fan of Bush Derangement Syndrome but how can anyone hate on this? As Sarah Palin might say, there is a special place in heaven for you, Olga Drozcik!
