A win is a win: Jets beat Bengals 26-14

In a weekend where upsets were rampant throughout the NFL, the Jets took care of business against a team they were supposed to beat.  The Jets beat the Bengals 26-14 to move their record to 3-2 and tied for second in the AFC East.  This game was far from pretty, with some curious offensive play calling, turnovers, as well as some untimely penalties but in the end Gang Green's defense prevailed.

Other Game Notes:

1. Great to see Thomas Jones get back on the scoring track with a career first 3 touchdown performance.  The Jets continue to struggle rushing the ball and this could be a concern as they face tougher opponents further down the schedule.
2. The Jets pass rush continues to improve with 5 more sacks and it is great to see the pressure being applied without all out blitz packages. Keep an eye on Eric Barton as he is playing at very high level along with Calvin Pace.
3. The play of Kerry Rhodes is starting to be criticized by some which is interesting as he has played at a Pro Bowl level the last 2 years. This year with the influx of new talent it appears that Kerry has become more of the quarterback of the secondary and is not required to make as many plays.  With the pass rush being generated by the front seven Rhodes is not being asked to blitz as much as in the past which will result in a drop of his numbers.
4. Where are the Jets fans? Yesterday was a gorgeous day for football and there had to be something like 10,000 empty seats.  In addition a good portion of the fans that were in attendance, were quiet like they were enjoying a softball game in the park. What gives? Also what is the infatuation with throwing paper airplanes during the game?  And how long will it be until someone gets seriously hurt and a lawsuit is filed? Just don't get it.
