Manny's window will soon be festooned with ornaments.
Manny's Art Supply on Main Street in New Paltz is having its sixth annual holiday ornament contest now through December 6, with proceeds being donated to one of two Family of Woodstock charities.
According to employee Kwan Man Cheng, the $2.00 registration fee covers the supplies given to the contestants, with a little bit more for one of two good causes: Family of New Paltz, the local food pantry and all-around resource center, or its sister organiztion, the domestic violence shelter in Kingston.
Lee explained how the contest works:
- Two dollars gets you a paper-mâché ornament blank in one of several shapes (the sphere is already gone, but there are still several shapes to choose from), some knitting yarn, and a couple of samples of Manny's own handmade paper.
- Decorate the ornament, which looks like cardboard in its unadulterated form, making sure to include some of the paper and yarn.
- Bring it back to Manny's by December 6.
- Ornaments will be hung in Manny's window.
Prizes include a fifty-dollar gift certificate to Manny's, and winners will be announted the week of December 14. Download the full contest rules to learn all the details, or just get a copy when you get your ornament.
