But if you decide to get a new purse, remember that purses have 70% times more bacteria on them than the average toilet seat! Gross! As per a study by Charles Gerba, Ph.D., an environmental microbiologist at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He tested a variety of womens purses / handbags and found these disgusting results - 30% of purses carried fecal bacteria, 10% had bacteria that cause staph infections. Don't toss your purse onto a surface you often touch or prepare foods - desk or counter for example. Put up a hook so you can immediately hang your bag when you come in the door.
